Principals Message Term 2 Week 1

Hi Families,

Welcome back everyone for the start of Term 2. It has been fantastic to hit the ground running with our school routines, and the children have settled in well. This week we had a lot on including our school photos. The photographs went smoothly at school, but we are aware that there were some issues with the Advance life website. We are working through this with them and will inform families of how this will be resolved as soon as we can.

We look forward to our House Cross Country, which will be held on Friday 1st May. The 3-6 House Cross Country at Roy Dore reserve in the morning, and this will be followed after lunch with the P-2 House Cross Country on the oval and basketball courts. Families are welcome to come along to both events and cheer on the students. It should be a great event, and we hope to see you there.

Coming up in a couple of weeks our Grade 5/6 students will be attending camp at The Briars in Mt Martha. This will be a great opportunity for the children to participate in an adventure camp while working as a team. Information about the event has already been shared via Compass. Thank you to the families that have completed and returned the necessary camp forms. If you are yet to do so could you please complete them as soon as possible so that our teachers can prepare as best they can for the camp.

As communicated at the end of last term our Business Manager Ms Clare Bennett has moved on to Black Rock Primary School. We have been lucky enough to make an appointment over the school holidays, and we welcome Nikki Kewin-Talbot as the new Business Manager. Nikki will be officially starting on Thursday 30th April and joins us from Elizabeth Murdoch College. Nikki is looking forward to getting to know all members of our community so please come into the office at some point to say hello.

I have had communication from the City of Kingston in relation to parking supervisors attending the school over the coming weeks to ensure motorists are adhering to the parking restrictions around the school. I know it gets very busy before and after school and often hard to find a park, however, it is extremely important that we follow the appropriate road rules to ensure students can be safe when travelling to and from school.

Finally, we will be holding an assembly this Friday 24th April at 2:40pm to finish the week, there will be some positive changes that give all our leaders a chance to speak and they have been discussing to our classes today how assembly will look and sound this term. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms at the conclusion of the day. Please be aware that next Friday 1st May there will be no assembly due to House Cross Country.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.

Kind regards,

Clem Langford
Principal

ANZAC DAY

"Lest we forget. We remember the courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women who served Australia."

On Wednesday morning this week our captains attended Seaford RSL for the schools ANZAC service with Mrs McGregor and Mr Langford.

We will have our school minute of silence on Friday. A tradition in Carrum is that we have have students attending the Beauty Spot in Carrum on Saturday at 7am and we would like to see as many of our Carrum families there as possible.

CONNECTIONS TO KITCHEN

This ANZAC Day, we honour tradition and community with a menu that blends native Australian flavours, comfort food, and cultural influences inspired by remembrance and togetherness.
