Welcome to week 6 from your school captains

Hello Carrum Community,

This is Austin and Ivy, your school captains for 2026.

Wow what a busy week this week has been, so much is happening at Carrum Primary. On Monday this week we had our 3 to 6 Think You Know cybersafety incursion, where we learnt how to be safe online in our social accounts. Also, on Monday we had a special morning tea celebrating all the amazing ES staff at Carrum Primary. We appreciate all the ES staff do for our school. You guys are the bESt!! Yesterday we had 11 kids from 3 to 6 go to Division crosscountry, they all did so well in tough wet conditions.

From the 27th to the 3rd of June it is Reconciliation week and our students will be learning about what this means and learning about culture and history.

Today the 1\2s dressed up in olden days costumes and had a fun high tea party, eating scones with jam and cream and learning about old fashioned things.

Tomorrow we have interschool sports for the year 5 and 6s, we are playing at home and are playing Seaford.

Coming up on our calendar

On June the 2nd, send your child to school wearing yellow and please bring a gold coin donation. We are fundraising for Children’ Ground for aboriginal students to gain access to education. On Tuesday we have the first Step into Prep, where local kinder kids come to get ready for prep.

Also on the calendar on the 4th of June we have 1/2s robotics incursion and the year 5s are going to Patterson Lakes Secondary College.

Now before we go here is a fun joke to end the day…

Q: Why did the student eat his homework?

A: Because the teacher said it was a piece of cake!

Thanks for reading. We hope you have a great Friday!

See you on Monday for week 7.

What's been happening in Art

Visual Arts

All classes have been working on fun and messy projects in the art room. We’ve also made the most of this amazing autumn weather and incorporated nature art lessons outdoors.

Prep

The Preps have been exploring nature art activities by using a variety of natural materials to create their own artworks. This week they are making magical nature wands, which encourage imaginative role-play and collaboration with others.

Grade 1/2

The Grade 1/2 students are learning fun facts about echidnas including its unique features. They are making 3D sculptures using air-dry clay and natural materials. This activity will lead into another special project about the echidna’s journey.

Grade 3/4

The Grade 3/4 students have been making colourful Australian animal collages, inspired by the artist Pete Cromer. They have made their own artistic choices on the shapes and colours used, based on his art pieces.

Grade 5/6

Linking to their Inquiry unit on Animal Adaptations, the Grade 5/6 students have designed and created their own habitats with a camouflaging animal of their choice.  They have discovered how animals use colour, texture and pattern to blend into their environments for survival. We’ve had fun spotting the animals!

Breakfast Club news from our students

  1.

Hi I’m Grace from 5/6D

I am going to let you know about the breakfast club. It is a place where kids can get breakfast if they have not had time at home or if you just want to eat with friends or have nothing left in the house. This means that your kids won't have to be rushed to have brekkie at home. It would be fabulous to have more families come!  Families can drop off their kids and they will have a great time chatting with a friend while having breakfast, it's so much fun!

Breakfast club is on every Wednesday morning from 8:30am to 8:50am and it is on the 3/4 deck.

We hope to see you there!

About the School Breakfast Clubs program

Research shows a child's ability to concentrate in class, self-regulate and learn is negatively impacted if they are hungry. It has been reported that the rising cost of living makes it increasingly difficult, particularly for families experiencing disadvantage, to provide enough healthy food for the family each week.

The Victorian Government has committed a further $21.1 million in the 2024-2025 Victorian Budget to expand the School Breakfast Clubs program to include all Victorian government schools that opt in.

The Victorian Government’s delivery partner is Foodbank Victoria, the Victorian branch of Australia's largest food welfare agency.

The program provides:

  • healthy breakfasts to students in participating Victorian government schools
  • nutritious lunches, snacks and take-home packs for students in need
  • cooking classes for families at 165 participating schools

WE ALSO provide fresh fruit to classrooms weekly.

Did you know we also offer food packs for families who may need them?

They are a great pack of pantry staples, just contact your class teacher, or alternatively Rebecca Riley or Cassie Kennedy and we will have it ready for you.

Lunch Orders and Sushi Day

Carrum Primary School has lunch orders through the Tuckhop. Lunch orders will be delivered to the school office on set days and directly to your child in the classroom.

To order through the Tuckshop download the Spriggy App for ease of ordering. These are delivered on Tuesdays.

Currently the Beach Bar is not doing Lunch Orders.

We have a Sushi day coming up on May 1st

Special Lunch Days- for example Sush Day- stay tuned for as they will happen often.
