Welcome back to Term 4 from our acting Principal

Welcome to Term 4!

Dear Carrum Primary Community,

Welcome back! We have had a wonderful start to the final term of the year. It is always fantastic to see how quickly our students settle back into their learning, guided by the familiar and predictable routines that ground them after the school holidays. I hope every family enjoyed a restful and happy break.

We returned to a welcomed upgrade this term: the Year 5/6 deck replacement was successfully completed over the holidays. This area is now fully refreshed, safe, and ready to serve our school for many years to come.

As we head into this busy final stretch of the year, please ensure you keep a close eye on Compass for updates regarding all whole-school and year-level events.

Community & Events

Bogan Bingo Night | Saturday, 24 October (7:00 pm – 11:00 pm)
Our fantastic Carrum Parents Fundraising Committee has been hard at work organising a brilliant night out at Roy Doy Reserve. This is the perfect opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy some laughs, and dress up in your finest "Bogan Chic" gear! Best of all, every dollar raised goes directly toward a brand-new playground for our Year 3–6 students. Check Compass for full details and ticket information.

Curriculum Day | Monday, 2 November
Please mark this pupil-free day in your calendars. School will be closed for students while our teaching staff use this valuable time to handle essential end-of-year moderation and report writing.

Essential Reminders

SunSmart Hats
With the warmer weather and beautiful sunshine finally breaking through, we are officially in our Term 4 sun-safe period. All students must wear their Carrum Primary broad-brimmed hat whenever they are outside. Please help us keep your children protected by checking that their they have their hats at school.

Morning Drop-Off & Safety
We have noticed an increasing number of students arriving at school quite early in the morning. For your child's safety, please ensure they do not arrive before 8:30 am.

Our staff yard duty supervision begins at 8:45 am, which is when a member of leadership takes will be outside monitoring students arrival.

The only exception is Wednesday mornings, when students are welcome from 8:20 am to join us for Breakfast Club.

Before School Care
If you need to drop your child off earlier than 8:30 am on a regular basis, please contact Team Kids to register them for safe, supervised morning care.

The return of longer, warmer days is certainly bringing plenty of energy and cheer to the yard. Thank you for your continued support and we look ahead to a wonderful Term 4.

Have a wonderful weekend.

In the SAKG

Welcome back everyone

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing holiday break.  I’m so excited to be back at school and to see our gardens bursting with life — vegetables growing everywhere, flowers blooming, and our fruit trees beginning to blossom!

And of course… it’s wonderful to be back in our kitchen, cooking, creating and learning together!

I can’t wait to see all our students again and continue growing, cooking and discovering together this term.

Here’s to another beautiful term full of gardening, cooking, learning, laughter and lots of delicious moments!

Beach Patrol is on this WEEKEND

Carrum Primary are involved in cleaning up our beautiful beach.

We would like to ask for volunteers for our Beach Patrol coming up THIS WEEKEND, Sunday 11th of October at 10am.

Meet us out the front of the L.S.C

Hope to see you there, Miss Derix and team

LOST Property

We have a very LARGE amount of lost property

Is your child missing a jumper, a lunch box a drink bottle or even a bike and scooter? If so please come and have a look before they get donated.

The Golden Rule: "If it has a name on it, it gets returned. If it doesn't have a name on it, it joins the permanent collection of orphaned hoodies."

"The school lost and found: where jumpers go to live a second, anonymous life, and kids claim they’ve never seen that jacket in their entire existence."

"I’ve lost a pencil, a lunchbox, my patience, and my mind—and I’m pretty sure the lost-and-found only has the pencil."

The scooters and bikes are at the end of the 3/4 gallery and the green bins are near the toilet door in the main gallery area.

Book Fair starts next week

A great way to get those gifts for upcoming celebrations! The selection will be HUGE! Presented by Lamont Books.

It will be displayed in the gallery area

8.30 to 9.30am and 2.45 to 3.45pm

On Tuesday with the prep parent information evening it’s open 5.30pm to 6pm and 7pm to 7.30pm

Hats

At Carrum Primary we follow the Sun Smart Policy.

We enforce hats are to be worn in Term one and four. However if the UV is above 3 from April to August it is encouraged that students wear them.

https://www.sunsmart.com.au/
There is some information on the website for general protection advice.

It might be a good time to wash those hats and have them ready now, if you don't have one the school holidays are a good time to purchase. We suggest Carrum branded hats, however Big W and Best and Less have them for sale for as little as $6, we encourage the wide brimmed hats.

Students of all ages are tutored in private one-to-one lessons. Children are taught in a positive and nurturing environment. The tuition sessions are designed according to the student’s individual needs, which are regularly evaluated and form part of ongoing assessment. I tailor to the needs of each student, which is delivered in a positive learning environment designed to foster self-esteem and motivate students to achieve their full potential.  Students with special needs are also catered for.

The core work covers the following:

WRITING: Examines the different genres and includes writing organisations for each genre, essay writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar and editing skills.

MATHEMATICS: Covers Numeracy & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry and Statistics & Probability

EXAM PREPARATIONS: These helps identify the student’s progress and help develop skills for NAPLAN, ICAS, scholarship and entrance exams
