Hello Carrum Community,
This is Austin and Ivy, your school captains for 2026.
Wow what a busy week this week has been, so much is happening at Carrum Primary. On Monday this week we had our 3 to 6 Think You Know cybersafety incursion, where we learnt how to be safe online in our social accounts. Also, on Monday we had a special morning tea celebrating all the amazing ES staff at Carrum Primary. We appreciate all the ES staff do for our school. You guys are the bESt!! Yesterday we had 11 kids from 3 to 6 go to Division crosscountry, they all did so well in tough wet conditions.
From the 27th to the 3rd of June it is Reconciliation week and our students will be learning about what this means and learning about culture and history.
Today the 1\2s dressed up in olden days costumes and had a fun high tea party, eating scones with jam and cream and learning about old fashioned things.
Tomorrow we have interschool sports for the year 5 and 6s, we are playing at home and are playing Seaford.
Coming up on our calendar
On June the 2nd, send your child to school wearing yellow and please bring a gold coin donation. We are fundraising for Children’ Ground for aboriginal students to gain access to education. On Tuesday we have the first Step into Prep, where local kinder kids come to get ready for prep.
Also on the calendar on the 4th of June we have 1/2s robotics incursion and the year 5s are going to Patterson Lakes Secondary College.
Now before we go here is a fun joke to end the day…
Q: Why did the student eat his homework?
A: Because the teacher said it was a piece of cake!
Thanks for reading. We hope you have a great Friday!
See you on Monday for week 7.

CAMP BRIARS
When did we go and when did we come back?
We left on Wednesday the 13th of May and came back on Friday the 15th.
The Food: For morning and afternoon tea there was a selection of cordial, fruit and muffins. For lunch we had hot dogs and salad rolls. For dinner on the first night we had lasagna and garlic bread with the side of fruits and vegetables. On the second night we had chicken schnitzel with a side of salad, we had nice desserts too. It was delicious!
Activities: There were many fun activities but the top 5 favourites were: Giant swing, Leap of faith, Archery, Bushcraft, and The nature walk where we saw lots of native animals.
Cabins: In our cabins there were 8-9 people situated into bunk beds and one stretcher bed or mattress. Everyone at least got one friend in their cabins.
In the end camp was a very fun experience for all the 5/6s that attended. And a big thanks to all of the parents who came along to this special event and of course our teachers.
From Ryan, Elliott and Emily
We want a place where our children are safe, where they can grow up to be healthy, educated and have a better future. Children’s Ground is the place for them. We are seeing our kids learning and loving to learn. Their families are walking beside them. We have hope for the future.Kwementyeye Gorey, Senior Arrernte Educator

I’m Janika, covering Reception duties in the absence of Rebecca Schefamn, for the month of May.
I enjoy working at Carrum Primary School with friendly and supportive staff, with smiles on faces always.
I have a daughter and husband in my family, I love animals and always care for abandoned pets. I have cared for 3 kittens recently which were abandoned by their mother cat and have become our family pets.
Art and craft and travelling are my main hobbies, however I love to play badminton with my family when I get time. The most recent place I visited with my family was sound Island in New Zealand, and I would like to go back again.
Sadly my last day of school will be on May 29th. I will miss you all and wish you all the best for your future endeavours.
We thank Janika for helping in our office and wish her all the best in her future work.
Christine
Hi everyone,
I’m Christine but most people call me Chris.
I have been part of the Carrum Primary School team for about about 3 years in the role of Education Support but my connection to the school runs much deeper.
Over the years, my four children all attended CPS for a combined total of 18 years making it a significant and special part of our lives.
Outside of my role, I’m a proud dog owner of two very cheeky Labradors, Maisy and Lucy. They absolutely love playing at the beach and digging in the sand! When it comes to my personal favourites, chocolate is my weakness and I can’t start my day without a good cup of coffee.
In my free time, I enjoy catching up with friends, travel and hobbies such as ceramics, photography and dancing!
I feel very lucky to be part of the kind and inclusive community here at CPS.
