Welcome to week 8 from our school captains

Hi Carrum students and families!

Welcome back everyone! It’s your school captains Ivy and James, we can’t believe this year has gone by so fast! It’s only a few more weeks until our year sixes graduate and go into high school. We have had a few exciting and fun things happening recently. 

Our teachers would like to congratulate the lovely Miss Anderson, now Mrs Blane who was married last weekend.
She teaches our 3/4 class and takes students for tutoring.
      

Last week was our Colour Fun Run which was really cool to see everyone getting all coloured and having so much fun. We managed to raise over $32,000 and got to slime more teachers AND our principal!! Good job and a big thank you to everyone who donated!

We asked a few people in the yard what they enjoyed about the Fun Run.

“I liked having fun with my friends.” - Jack (3 / 4)

“I liked getting prizes!” - Meila (5 / 6)

 

This week, the 3/4s are starting bike-ed! It’s really important to be safe on our bikes so please be careful when we are riding to, and from school. In a few weeks, the year sixes are going on the annual year six bike ride to Chelsea Bicentennial Park! 

 

For the past couple of weeks, we have been having our Up Day! It’s been really exciting and nerve-wracking but it’s been fun! During Up Day, our year fives have presented their leadership speeches for next year. Good luck and good job to all!

 

Some of our year fours are running for marine ambassador this week! Good luck to everyone! 

 

We have one of our Junior School Council representatives writing a little something about a visit from Sonya Kilkenny! Thank you Eden! 

 

“Hi, I'm Eden and I'm here to talk to you all about Sonya Kilkenny's recent visit to the 5/6s. We are doing inquiry and our topic is Taking Action. I went around the yard and asked some year fives and year sixes about what they thought about it. Maliyah and Summer thought it was "Inspiring", Evelyn B thought it was “Interesting” and “Nice that Sonya cares about us’’. Shapi thought it was “Good”  and Lily A thought it was "Educational''

We slimed 7 extra

Our school was bursting with energy, colour, and laughter last Friday as we held our annual Colour Fun Run—and what an incredible success it was! Students raced, danced, cartwheeled and zoomed their way around the course while being showered in bright powder, creating a rainbow trail of fun across the oval. The excitement was contagious, and the smiles said it all!

A major highlight of the day was watching our brave teachers step up for the ultimate challenge—the slime dump! Students cheered loudly as buckets of green and blue goo came pouring down. It was messy, hilarious, and unforgettable!

None of this would have been possible without the wonderful support of our school community. A huge thank you to our amazing parents and carers who helped set up, run stations, and cheer from the sidelines. Your enthusiasm and helping hands made the day run smoothly and kept the fun flowing.

We also extend a big thank you to all our dedicated teachers for organising, encouraging, and—of course—being such good sports during the slime spectacular!

It was a day full of colour, laughter, and community spirit. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

We also can't forget the fundraising efforts by ALL- a HUGE $32,000 was collected for Carrum Primary.

Really by Steeli

At Carrum Primary we celebrate our students at school and support them in their oustside adventures.


Steeli Jean in year 4 has her own little business, she makes keyrings and earrings for only $5 and is very succesful. If you need a present for a celebartion of just a gift for yourself you can follow her on instagram @reallybysteeli (parent run account) or find her at school and place an order. She is in Mr Ps class.

Junior School Council PJ Day upate


Our School managed to raise $355.60 for Guide Dogs Australia, thanks to everyone for their contributions. It was a cosy and fun day! 

Our next event will be to wear a touch of PURPLE for National Bully NO WAY week on August 17th.

We will also have a crazy hair day this term too
 
      
                             


Christmas Carols

We are excited about our up and coming end of year Christmas event!



This year each class will be performaning a Christmas song on the 3/4 decking area. We invite families to bring something to sit on to set up on the Basketball Court.

BYO picnic basket with food and drinks.

There will be a BBQ on the evening with sausages to purchase (not served during concert times) tickets released soon.

The brief is a touch of festive clothing for all classes. Beg borrow or steal, nothing new is expected! This could be in the form of accessories, head bands, tutus, festive hats, tincel or christmas coloured clothes. Some students will be provided with certain props/accessories depending on the class item. (which they will be notified)

We can't wait to see you on the evening and hope Melbourne Weather is kind to us!

Rum-b-run Holiday helpers

Can you help over the holidays?


Did you know our animals need to be taken care of when we aren't at school? We have had an amazing volunteer, Peter who helps maintain this important job over the holidays.

Here is an important message from him below:

Hello. My name is Peter, I have been involved with our little Farmlet for about 30 years now. The Christmass holidays will be upon us soon. I am reaching out to Families to help out over the break to look after the animals. The children would love to go in and care for them. I can walk you through what is involved as it is easy. Please leave your name and number at the school office or contact me direct on 0425 882272. 
           



Fundraising-Boxxi kits

We're excited to be partnering with Boxxi for an exclusive school ordering program. Our wonderful Carrum PS families and community are being offered discounted pricing and free shipping on Boxxi Maths Kits - the perfect way to support numeracy skills through play.

Each kit includes 100+ hands-on maths resources and manipulatives, plus one full year of downloadable maths activities designed for primary school children. The activities take just 5-15 minutes and make it easy for families to support maths confidence at home.

For every 10 kits sold, our school will receive a free kit to use at school. Thanks for helping us build confidence in maths at CPS!

Prep Transition Dates



During our Prep Transition times the whole school is also involved in 4 exciting transition sessions and our Year 6 are working on their upcoming Graduation and will also attend the whole state UP day.

Visitor Procedures and Parent Enquiries

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and staff, and to minimise disruption to teaching and learning, all parents and visitors are asked to adhere to the following procedures when visiting the school:

  • All visitors must report to the school office upon arrival for all enquiries and are required to sign in before entering the school grounds. Visitors must also sign out prior to leaving the premises.
  • Parents and visitors are requested not to approach teachers in classrooms, staffroom or on the playground during school hours. Teachers have a duty of care to supervise students and are engaged in teaching and learning responsibilities throughout the school day.
  • If you wish to speak with your child's teacher, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment. Meetings will be scheduled before or after school, or at another mutually convenient time, at the teacher's discretion.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in supporting our commitment to maintaining a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment for all members of our school community.
