Hi Carrum students and families!
Welcome back everyone! It’s your school captains Ivy and James, we can’t believe this year has gone by so fast! It’s only a few more weeks until our year sixes graduate and go into high school. We have had a few exciting and fun things happening recently.
Our teachers would like to congratulate the lovely Miss Anderson, now Mrs Blane who was married last weekend.
She teaches our 3/4 class and takes students for tutoring.

Last week was our Colour Fun Run which was really cool to see everyone getting all coloured and having so much fun. We managed to raise over $32,000 and got to slime more teachers AND our principal!! Good job and a big thank you to everyone who donated!
We asked a few people in the yard what they enjoyed about the Fun Run.
“I enjoyed spraying people!” - Lizzy (1 / 2)
“I liked having fun with my friends.” - Jack (3 / 4)
“I liked getting prizes!” - Meila (5 / 6)
This week, the 3/4s are starting bike-ed! It’s really important to be safe on our bikes so please be careful when we are riding to, and from school. In a few weeks, the year sixes are going on the annual year six bike ride to Chelsea Bicentennial Park!
For the past couple of weeks, we have been having our Up Day! It’s been really exciting and nerve-wracking but it’s been fun! During Up Day, our year fives have presented their leadership speeches for next year. Good luck and good job to all!
Some of our year fours are running for marine ambassador this week! Good luck to everyone!
We have one of our Junior School Council representatives writing a little something about a visit from Sonya Kilkenny! Thank you Eden!
“Hi, I'm Eden and I'm here to talk to you all about Sonya Kilkenny's recent visit to the 5/6s. We are doing inquiry and our topic is Taking Action. I went around the yard and asked some year fives and year sixes about what they thought about it. Maliyah and Summer thought it was "Inspiring", Evelyn B thought it was “Interesting” and “Nice that Sonya cares about us’’. Shapi thought it was “Good” and Lily A thought it was "Educational''
Thank you! From Eden.
Have a great weekend
From your school Captains,
Ivy and James.

Meila: Hello I’m Meila and this is Evie,Luke and Evelyn and we are the marine ambassadors for 2025.
Evelyn: Last Tuesday we were lucky enough to attend our third marine ambassador workshop at Chelsea Yacht club with many other schools and Miss Shew.
Evie: We started the day with an Acknowledgement of Country and then we went to the beach to do some planting of Native Australian plants in the sand dunes then we did some weeding of an invasive succulent called pig ear.
Luke: Then Hudson, the leader, spoke to us about hunting and how the aboriginal people survived. We learnt about staying warm with possum skin worn as a cloak. We also learnt how to make fires in the wild without using matches.
Meila: We were so lucky to participate in this day. We learnt so much and thank Miss shew, Kingston council and Chelsea Yacht Club for hosting us.
All: Thanks for reading

GOLF IN P.E
Grade 3-6 students have completed a series of lessons on Golf. Last week students were lucky to have PGA professional coach Paul Boxall come down for a lesson and teach the students about basic technique.
If your child would like to pursue golf further you can go to mygolf.com.au to find what local clinics are available to you.

SUP PROJECT
Last week, all the S.U.P (stand up project) leaders went to different classes to teach younger students about bullying, ‘friendship fires’ and ‘mean on purpose’. The S.U.P project is where a group of kids teach younger students what to do when being bullied, and how to help other people being bullied. We learnt that most kids did know the difference between bullying and ‘mean on purpose’. But didn't know what ‘friendship fires’ are. After our session, all of the kids at carrum primary school are aware of these three things. We have also been teaching the 4 D’s; Distract, Delegate, Delay, and Direct.
We couldn't have done this without Miss Mcgregor and Liam.
From all of the S.U.P leaders, thank you.

Wow what an amazing term!
So far the 3/4s have had so much fun doing epic activities. My friends and I really enjoyed our first school CAMP, Moonlit Sanctuary and house day.
When we went to camp we really loved the giant swing, canoeing, camp cooking, archery, ball games and the rock climbing wall.
At Moonlit Sanctuary, first our class 3/4C went to the wombat area, then the parrot station, next we went to the reptile exhibit, and then we fed the kangaroos, finally, we saw the bald eagles.
This was really special because some classes got to see the eagles being fed by a keeper. Thank you to all parents for letting us go and the teachers for bringing and taking care of us.
Ruby Simmons & Maggie Bilston (3/4C)
