Welcome to week 10 from Cienna and Mason

Welcome to our week 10 Newsletter

Hi Carrum families,

We can't believe there is only one week left! How exciting, but also sad.
In our last few exciting weeks we have many things still to enjoy.

Last Thursday we had an open afternoon to showcase our learning, thanks to our families and other classes for visiting.

Last week our marine ambassadors were lucky enough to swim with some dolphins and see some seals and had a great day out.

We know the 1\2s enjoyed their mini beast incursion learning all about creatures and more.
Our school also had an environment day that Ruby in year 6 organised for the whole school with different activities and prizes. Thanks to the leaders that worked hard wih her on this day

For an end of year celebration the year 5\6s  and their teachers went to the gravity zone which was so much fun!

On Thursday we had an amazing Christmas concert and a big thank you to Miss Chivotti for all her hard work arranging that for us! The Christmas songs were spectactular!

Next Wednesday the year 6s also have their bike ride to Bicentennial park.

On Monday the 15th of December its' the grade 6 graduation which will be a sad but an exciting night for our year six parents and families.

It's so exciting that there is only one week left of school!! Soon the year sixes will be off to their high schools! How crazy is that? We know you will miss us!

This is also our last newsletter piece for the year, we hope you have enjoyed reading our front pages.

Carrum Primary's first Art show

A Wonderful Celebration of Creativity – Our First Art Show

We are thrilled to share how successful our very first Art Show was! It was a fantastic afternoon filled colour, creativity, and community spirit. The school came alive with the incredible artworks of our talented students, and it was heart-warming to see so many families come along to celebrate and admire their children’s artistic efforts.

From painting and drawing to sculpture, clay and mixed media, every piece displayed the imagination and hard work our students put into their creations. The pride on the faces of both students and parents was a true highlight!

A huge thank you goes to our amazing Art teacher, who brought the show to life with her vision, organisation, and passion. We also extend our appreciation to our wonderful Student Art Team, who played an important role in preparing the displays and supporting the event on the night. Their leadership and enthusiasm helped make the Art Show a true success. We were also lucky enough to borrow the display boards from Patterson Lakes too so we thank their school also. Miss Chiovitti's brother volunteered to pick these up and drop them off in his van-we know she owes him a nice dinner now,

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this special event one to remember. We’re already looking forward to the next celebration of the arts at our school!

5/6 Learning

What's been happening in 5/6

Year 5/6 Goldfields Unit of Inquiry

Our Year 5/6 Students hit the Goldfields this Term! During this hands-on, play based learning unit, students had to go fossicking, panning and mining for gold (yes we actually spray painted rocks gold, and hid them). If anyone was lucky enough to find gold, they had to trade it in at the Assayers office for the going rate of gold that week. Students also had to build shelter, create shops to sell items, buy food etc. Each week, the price of gold varied and the amount of gold on the Goldfields also changed, gold was becoming scarce and the price of mining licences were increasing. The unit culminated with a reenactment of the Eureka Stockade where students tore up their licences, recited the Eureka oath and raised the Eureka flag.

There was a notorious bushranger that was worth 500 pounds for capture, he is still on the loose. The gold price for licences went up which wasn't fair!- Kai C

I found 8 ounces of gold and I was very happy- Luke

I really liked how the unit gave us a chance to play the game in real life and discover how it felt for those people on the Goldfields- Ryan S

I don't like how the troopers can get reinforcements to help capture you when looking for gold- Archer

Gold was everywhere at the start, then by the end the gold was all gone!- Noah S

I couldn't find any gold, but one man was so rich, he threw money on the floor and everyone went wild over it- Grace

Friends of Carrum Foreshore

Some of the Year 5/6 students headed to Carrum to be part of the Friends of Carrum Foreshore program. We walked down to Carrum beach to help pick up rubbish and keep our shores clean. Along the way we found lots of rubbish (from small to large) and even a bin lid!

Crazy Hair Day Success

There may have been rain but it didn't ruin the HAIR!

                          CRAZY and COLOURFUL Hair

The brief was silly, whacky, or creative and that was definitely achieved!

A big thanks to your families who went to so much effort for this years Crazy Hair Day event, from lights to gardens, to meals, drinks and animals and more in hair.
The ideas were outstanding and the topic of many morning circles was hair and how clever everyone is.

We appreciate your gold coins and are happy to announce we raised $316 which will go towards student technology, including chargers.

It was touch and go with the rain at drop off and many umbrellas were used, we also opened our doors early so paint wasnt dripping or balloons flying away.
Each class had trouble viting for the most creative or crazy styles but we have some standouts who we got some pics of to share with you all.

A special mention to Harper, Billie, Maeve and Scarlett, Eden and Violet, Emmie and Zara, Mimie and Steeli, Asha and Tiana, Shapi and Didi, Asher, Mason, Josh, Sam, Arlo and James, Emerson and Sailor, Romane and Imogen, Sassy and Neive, Violet and Sky, Ellie and Kelsey, LAkey and Eva, Dais G, Lexi and Maverick, Evie, Evie W, Evelyn Q and Ivy Q, Idianna and Hugo.
