Hello Carrum families,
Well Spring is here or should I say summer. What a gorgeous week it has been despite the pollen being high and many students and staff suffering hay fever. This weather leads us into the time of year where we are getting busy starting to prepare and plan for 2027. To assist with our planning of our 2027 class structures we need an understanding of student numbers for next year. If you will be leaving the school and transferring to another school in 2027, could you please let the office know to assist us with this process.
This week we had a ministerial visit from the premier Mr Ben Carroll and our local member and Attorney General Sonya Kilkenny. Our student leaders did a fantastic job in showing off and highlighting all the fantastic things we do at Carrum and taking the Premier on the school tour. He was impressed with Pebbles and commented he had not been to a school with a goat before. Sonya Kilkenny made an announcement to the student for future funding, and our students received a great lesson in politics.
An outstanding performance has seen our own Brodie Simpfendorfer in year 4 came second in the Regional High Jump finals this week. What an amazing effort and a huge congratulations , thanks for representing Carrum!
This also means Brodie will now be competing in the State High Jump Final next week with is very impressive.
A reminder November 2nd will be a curriculum day and teachers will be busy moderating and working on their reports. Team kids will be operating on this day.
Finally, I look forward to dressing up and catching up with parents at Bogan Bingo on Saturday night. I believe tickets are still available so if you are looking for a fun night then please come along.
Enjoy your weekend.

As the weather warms up and children spend more time playing closely together, we often see an increase in cases of head lice. Head lice are a common part of school life and can affect anyone, regardless of hair type, cleanliness, or age.
We ask all families to regularly check their child's hair, especially during spring and summer when head lice are more prevalent. Early detection helps prevent the spread throughout classrooms and the wider school community.
What to look for:
If head lice are found, please commence treatment promptly and continue checking all family members. Regular hair checks at home, particularly once a week, are the best way to manage and prevent outbreaks.
Here are some more advice and tips, facts and tips on treatment below:
